Decorative chip and flake systems broadcast colored acrylic chips into a wet epoxy base coat, then seal with a clear polyurea topcoat. The result is an attractive, textured floor with a non-slip surface that hides minor surface imperfections and comes in dozens of color combinations. This is the most popular residential garage floor coating system we install in Montgomery County.

How Chip Systems Work

After the base coat is applied, decorative chips (also called flakes) are broadcast into the wet material — either sparsely for a terrazzo look or heavily for full coverage. The excess chips are scraped off once the base cures, then a clear polyurea topcoat is applied to seal and protect the surface. The chip layer adds texture for slip resistance, adds visual interest, and helps conceal minor concrete imperfections under the coating.

Color and Style Options

Chip blends come in dozens of standard color combinations — grays, browns, neutrals, and multi-color blends. Full-broadcast systems cover the concrete completely with a consistent chip coverage. Partial broadcast systems let the base coat color show through for a different aesthetic. We bring samples to your assessment visit so you can see options in your space before committing to a color.
